I used to get this all the time and it went away for about a year. It is back w/ a vengence. Always happens at night, typically after dinner. It starts as an ache in my right shoulder and then gets unbearable. Nothing I can do to make it better (tylenol, phyzame, heating pad, etc). 2 years ago I had an ultrasound of my gallbladder done (I guess gallbladder probs can present as shoulder pain). Anyway everything was a-okay. I mean the pain wraps around my shoulder and goes into my breast. AAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!! Anyone run into this?! HELP!

Yes. Mine was caused by a stomach ulcer. I thought it was lung pain at first and then my gallbladder. It took two years before i found that it was coming from my stomach. i TRIED EVERYKIND OF stomach tablet and painkiller without luck The doctor has me on Lansazarapole and it cured me after about ten days.Please consider that the pain is radiating from your stomach, i know that my pain was very similar to yours

I'm on Nexium already. I see my GI in March. I'll bring it up then. Thanks Marty! Oh and painkillers (Darvocet included) don't even touch it.

WOW, bad gas pains that start in your shoulder???? you are bad off!!!!

Does laying on your left side help at all? Usually when I have gas pains that will help me expell the gas.

Might be worth a call to the GI before March. Pain wears you down so fast. (((hugs)))

My gas problems have virtually gone away since I started taking digestive enzymes with every meal. I take 5 or 6 digestive enzymes with big meals and 2 or 3 with each snack. I use the Digest Gold enzymes by the brand "enzymatic therapy."

Sorry to hear you're in pain! All the way up by your shoulder? That sounds horrible! Hope it lets up soon.

Are you any better this morning Tab? That sure sounds horrible! But I can relate. The only time I had that such severe gas pain in my shoulder is when I had my laproscope surgery - you know, where they pump you full of air and as the day goes on the air travels and manifests into severe shoulder pain. It even hurt to breath! Do you have peppermint tea? I swear this stuff worked wonders for this pain. I was hurting pretty bad and (thank you Quincy for suggesting it), I started drinking that and within a few hours the pain lessened considerably where I could actually function again.

I'm feeling better this am. Luckily it subsided before bed. I am going to do some research on Digestive Enzymes. May be worth a try. I hate to rock the boat b/c the ole UC is behaving (knock on wood). I'll get some peppermint tea today.

I have some of the Digestive Gold that laurar was talking about. I don't take it regularly like I should - but I can sure tell a difference when I do. It helps my reflux - so I should take them more!!! (seems kind of dumb that I don't now that I think about it) Enzymedica also has a product called Acid Soothe - but the digestive enzymes gold version has all of those products in it.

I don't find that taking this product effects my UC in any negative way.
