For left sided UC to spread? I feel the same pain I used to only feel in my left side... in other areas of my tummy now too. Thing is I've been in remission... got down to 10mg of prednisone and now I think I'm either flaring again.. or my old symptoms are just.. back because the pred isnt there covering it up anymore.

I don't know what to do because my hubby and i both dont want me going on a higher dose of pred..but im in so much pain.

UC certainly can spread. It almost always starts in the proctosigmoid area, but in some people can extend higher in the colon. However, don't try to diagnose yourself based on pain location. Pain in your abdomen can radiate and actually be felt in an area away from where the problem is. For instance, some people feel the pain from appendicitis in the area of their navel. I also have left-sided UC, and I typically had pain in my lower right abdomen during a flare.

I know you don't want a higher dose of Pred, but it really is time to call your doctor. You also might consider taking a good probiotic daily to help keep the bacteria in your colon balanced.

I was originally diagnosed with left sided UC however within months it was established I had UC throughout the whole colon, so I believe the answer to be yes, check with your consultant, admittedly it'll mean another C/Scope but better to know the full story.
