hey, i'm just wondering if anyone had a Psychotic Episode caused by remicade. It happened to me about June of 07, my gi specialist said he never heard of it happening, but my phycologist said he knew for a fact that Remicade can cause them.... the insomnia,all the meds and stress from potential surgery didn't help the situation either... flaired up now, hopefully will get better soon but hard to tell.

... I feel that just seeing the blood makes me not want to do things, but the experience of being serioiusly flaired before makes me push to do everyday things.

I've never heard of it, and it isn't mentioned anywhere in the literature. I'd be curious to know how your psychologist "knows" this. Since psychologists don't prescribe or monitor drugs, where did he get his information?

i don't know exactly what his specialty is, but he does monitor and perscribe my drugs.. and he got it from the people who make remicade.

Jeaner, he must be a psychiatrist then. That's a new one on me, I never heard of that.

jeaner28...were you also on prednisone or other steroid meds before going on Remicade?

What other meds are/were you taking?

What med were you given before the remi infusion?

Did you happen to have a high fever afterward?

I was on the liquid steroid that was injected with the remicade and i was taking azothiaprine and salofalk.

The only time I felt like I was truly going nuts was when I was on the higher doses of prednisone. However, I've also had "weird" physical reactions to some of the other drugs like Imuran and Asacol. I had side effects from both of those drugs that were not on the list of side effects the doctors had given me, and I knew the drugs were causing them because the second I went off of them the side effects disappeared. Sometimes certain people have more sensitive bodies than the norm and stuff like this can happen.
