hey, i'm just wondering if anyone knows if chewing tobacco has the same affects as smoking for UC. I chew and it helps to relax me and my gut, but i've heard that smoking can help UC sometimes.

I don't personally chew, but my late-husband did and he had UC. It didn't help at all with his UC, as a matter of fact, I used to think it made it worse; but I couldn't really say for sure.

I chewed for probably close to 10 years. I quit the day someone walked into my work (retail) missing their lower jaw. Not that that says much, as i currently smoke.
I would be careful personally - there are a lot of chemicals in chew, and if you're putting that in your mouth, some of it is going to get ingested.
Just my 2 cents as a former chewer.
