How to stop taking imuran?

Hello!

I decided to stop taking imuran but I dont know if I should just stop with it or tapper?

If I tapper how quick should I do that?

Hello,

You should certainly talk to your doctor about this. With that said---I quit Imuran in September. My doc told me to just stop it with no tapering. Because of the way the drug works you don't need to taper. But, much like how you don't start to see the benefits of the imuran for weeks to months, it can take weeks to months to notice the effects of going off of it. I have been lucky, I quit but am still in remission. I hope if you do go off of it that you are successful.

Well, the question is how I could notice any negative effects when going of it when I have not had any positive effects from it. I'm still sick and the only thing that works for me is prednisolone. Im gonna start with pred-enema today but I'm gonna stop taking imuran.

Hello, I would call your doctor before you stop the Imuran. Also ask your doctor about you starting pred.

I just stopped. With my doctor's orders. Imuran gave me serious liver problems, so I stopped and immediately stopped throwing up/having stomach pains.

I've been on Imuran for more then 5 months.

Why should I call my doctor before I stop taking Imuran?
