If this thread goes public, no one would want to hire UCers!!!!!!! / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

There is a nice stretch when I need to walk from my cubical to the restroom and as I walk past accounting one day, I sound like a sputtering car going up a hill, but I just look straight ahead, thankful it wasn't something more. Just today I was talking to a coworker and I couldn't hold it, so a nice pitch was heard and when he saw the expression on my face, he said, "Wait, was that...?"

The worse time was after my colonoscopy when I think the GI must have pumped so much air in me I could have taken off ! When they got me back to the room all drowsy,  I remember the nurse saying I may have a bit of "wind ", then I remember this awful noise that went on and on and on but not realising it was me !!!!! My husband was sat in the room and said I think that deserves a round of applause , and started clapping!! Lucky I was nice and woozy and saw the funny side !!The trouble with UC is that farting can be like playing Russian roulette.......risky at times !!!

I have decided its time to buy a dog to blame !

Has anyone here had especially bad gas years before ever having their first UC flareup?

Hahahah, this thread made me feel a lot better, thanks everyone :)

I don't remember if I had bad gas before my 1st flare... I just turned 14 and that was almost 9 years ago now and I don't even remember the details of the flare- I just remember the day I went to the bathroom and had a toilet full of blood and had to run to tell my mom and went straight to the doctor. I do recall a period of time when I couldn't remember the last time I had farted; I just literally NEVER had gas. I wish I could remember what medication I was on or what I was doing at that time so I could get back to that state! Hehe

UCinGV, oh my god, I did the same thing while working in an office! The circulation was really weird in that building, so the smell would end up at someone else's desk. I would discuss it and help them try to figure out where it was coming from. What's really funny, is that they think they figured it out, and placed blamed on a room below us! Oh dear....
