Remicade and airplanes

I am going to Florida in a couple of weeks and my mother insists that since I am on remicade i should wear a mask on the airplane to avoid infections. I have one more infusion before I go and plan on asking my doctor but thought I would put it out here. Any experinces?

I have heard of taking 'airborne' before getting on a plane, it has a ton of vitamins in it and is supposed to help but that is only what I heard.

I've never done anything different since on Remicade. I wash my hands more since getting UC, but I think taking normal precautions is probably enough.

I am on Remicade and I flew recently. As my previous posts have suggested, I am very nervous about being exposed to things while taking Remicade. However, I did not wear a mask while on the plane. I did have a bottle of Purell and I used it quite often in the airport and on the flights. After three flights, I did not have any problems!

Good luck, and wash your hands frequently!

I'm not on remicade YET, but the airbourne stuff has always worked for me.

I am on Imuran and Humira, both immune suppressants and I flew two weeks ago and cruised for a week and had no problems with catching anything. Just keep the hand sanitizier nearby and enjoy yourself.

also I have been on immune suppressants since Oct and have had one minor cold, it was congestion and I had it a couple weeks longer than normal. Now, my husband has had two bad colds and my sister has had about 5 or 6, I have not gotten either of their colds.......(keeping my fingers crossed). Also the guy in the cube next to me and my friend at work have had bad colds.

3 major things I have been doing
1. Not putting my finger in my eyes or eating unless I have just washed my hands
2. Using hand sanitizer
3. not sharing my drinks or food w/people (before I would be like oooh taste my caramel apple martini, isn't it delicious!, now people can try it at the end of my drink).
