No Meds - Only Supplements?

I have been told by my GI that I am 5 ASA intolerant and also intolerant to immunosuppressants like Imuran and 6MP. Remicade also has little effect.

I just wanted to know if there are any UCer on this forum who are currently controlling their symptoms with only supplements?

Any suggestion for my case...

I'm a crohnie that only uses supplements, I'm either allergic or non-responsive to tradtional oral RX...

I actually do okay with just supplements, of course I'm intentionally careful with my diet and I exercise regularly as well, every little bit helps.

so Gargamel, just out of curiousity, what does your GI suggest you do? What does intolerant mean, do you have bad reactions? Wow.... sorry 'bout that! I mean, that's like all the front-line UC drugs right there!

What about the vitamin D megadose you got recently by injection? Did your doctor decide to continue with that? ? Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

i'm only controlling my uc with diet. i'm off all meds right now.

The Vitamin D injection was only a trial and I haven't seen the results yet, but I wasn't impressed with it.

I felt good for a couple of days but then the effect wore-off.

I GI is pushing for surgery but I am not keen on that at all, so have decided to take things into my own hands and have been to a Homeopathic clinic to get a second opinion...

I've heard that a combination of Quercertin, Bromelain and Termeric can be good anti-inflammatories.

Also I have read somewhere that a dose of Vitamin C and bio-Flavonoid can be just as good as NSAIDs...

Any thoughts on these?

Hey--I am all about the drugs, BUT I do know that accupuncture has really helped me and there are some good chinese medicines out there--if you are done with the west, i really recommend it. But you need to make sure that the person really knows what they are doing, especially with the medicines. Lb
