Prednisone and allergy shots

Does anyone take allergy shots while taking prednisone. I'm new on prednisone and wondering there are any effects with it.

Check with your allergist. They usually study immunology as well, so should know about this. Since Prednisone suppresses your immune system, it might make the shots less effective, but that's just a guess.

You can also try posting this question on the Allergies/Asthma forum. We have some on there that do the allergy shots while on steroids (for their asthma).

I do know that for allergy testing, you need to be off all things that suppress the immune system and/or other allergy meds to get a more accurate reading. So I'm thinking that either A) the allergy shots may not work as desired or B)It can cause a more sensitive reaction. But you should call up your allergist and see what he/she says.
