As the subject says, I'm in the market for a new GI. Anyone have any recommendations (or anti-recommendations!) ?

I'm looking for someone that actually reads the latest research and is willing to try new things instead of simply turning to prednisone every time there's an issue. A gentle hand with the flex sigs would also be a plus ;)

I love my GI in S.F. Her name is Dr. Nguyen with California Pacific Medical Center. Keep me posted on how it goes...

I recall that *Jen* posted a couple months ago that she's very satisfied with treatment by Uma Mahadevan at UCal/SF Medical Center. That's a doctor who definitely keeps up with current research, especially on UC & pregnancy issues. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

Since you listed the Southbay as well, I would suggest Dr. Anamali Veerappan in Fremont.

I recommend Dr. Mary Chan in Menlo Park... She saved my life.

I would suggest NOT going to Dr Bhupinder Bhandari in fremont. Not only do you have to wait 2-3hrs after your scheduled appointment time to actually see him every time but he pretty much never answers any questions on alternative medicines to prednisone/sulfasalazine. Im also in the San Jose area and currently looking for a new GI. If you find a decent one in the area, pls update here so I myself can give him/her a shot aswell.
