Mudua, that link deals with info that seems related to pain,in the most part.Chillies will exacerbate any type of gut sensitivity,IBD or otherwise.I don't think this article refers to a "cause",merely an exacerbatory factor.
Here's the end quote from said article:
"The development of drugs to block these excessive chilli receptors would help to conquer pain in a wide range of bowel diseases and maybe even cancers."
Alternatively,if chilli is an exacerbatory factor for you,DON'T EAT IT!
However, not to digress from the topic of this thread;I love chillies and they don't bother me.If I'm flaring, sure,it ain't too good an idea. But to suggest they may cause IBD?No way,not in my experience.
I hope my reply doesn't seem antagonistic,it's not intended that way.
As for the original topic of this thread, stranger things have happened! If chilli helps, use it as you see fit.One thing that really bugs me,is when friends say,"no wonder you have gut problems",when I eat spicy foods. They DO NOT cause IBD!
