Advice needed as soon as possible

I have a question I hope someone can help me with right away as I have to go the pharmacy soon and don't want to waste money.  I have been dealing with a flare for quite a while now.  I have been taking Lialda and Rowasa, but I am still having incredible abdominal pain.  I called the doctor and he has prescribed Cipro, Flagyl and Darvocet.  I think I have taken Flagyl so I'm OK with taking it again (except you can't drink ), but I am really scared to take Cipro.  I have read some really horrible things about it, like it causes damage to ligaments - I work out - and some people have had severe reactions and have been hospitalized - their skin literally came off their body.  I also have Xifaxan.  Should I just take the Xifaxan and Flagyl or should I go ahead and take the Cipro along with the others?  I am very cautious about the medications I take and for some reason I have an uneasy feeling about Cipro. 

I would appreciate any advice that you can offer.

my experience w/cipro.

I took it for two weeks in combination w/steriod enemas and I had drastic improvement. I don't recall any bad side effects. This was in 10/07, I don't know which helped me more.

All drugs have bad side effects, pred for me is the worst, though sulfasalazine gave me kidney disease and I have to take pred for that, so change that.......sulfasalazine is the worst for me personally (and that is one of the 'safer' drugs). It all depends on how your body reacts........mine just has a hypersensitivity.

Cipro is one of only two antibiotics I can take without flaring. It doesn't have a higher rate of adverse reactions than other antibiotics in general, and definitely fewer adverse effects than a c. diff infection, which is what it sounds like you may have.

my daughter takes xifaxin (rifaxamin) for the symptoms you described -of course you could have something different- but it seems to work very wellfor her, she is onn it for about 2 months now and will be staying on it until she sees the dr in june- we don't want to change anything until the semester ends. her dr believes it is a good drug for bloating and it seems to work.
i know that it doesn't go through your whiole body like other antibiotics-and i know what you mean about the muscle problems, as a runner, i've had muscled problems in my calves from cipro and i think levaquin
