The most natural enzymes are those from fruit and plants. These are what are bodies "selected" towards in the Darwin-ian sense when our digestive system evolved. While synthetic digestive enzymes are beneficial they are never as good as those manufactured by nature.
As for fruit bothering UCers it's my observation that its about
the same proportion as the non UCers. UC is such a poorly understood condition it's imperative to not stick to generic (internet) laws but rather to experiment. The people who speak about
having potential long term cures on this forum always come across as the "experimentors"!

I can eat any fruit in moderation. I don't eat apple peels, but peach, grape, etc. skins don't bother me. I have more problems with veggies - the cabbage family (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, etc.) especially. Specific foods seem to bother me less than some.

pb4?????....you better have lots of smilies happening....I'll add a few.
Enzymes will break down foods quicker and for some people and what they consume...if there's not much to break down, the enzymes will break things down further causing quicker peristalsis and loose stool.
Add UC and it might just be too much if consumed too often or possibly too much quantity-wise.
The fibre in the fruit would be good for constipation or low rectal inflammation....but for one with higher inflammation and loose stool, fibre supplement such as bulking would be better.
Not all foods agree with everyone.....fruit or not, good fibre or not, soluble or insoluble, whatever....just because it's "good" for us doesn't make it so if it doesn't agree.
Start small and find the limit. Mostly our bodies have the required enzymes to break down foods, but certain enzymes must be either taken or eaten in foods so that it will help digestion.
Sending huge smilies your way.....winter has once again arrived saving us from the torment of sunshine and balmy weather.
Sending sunshine as well....

Q!!!! LOL...Darn rights you've got winter again, we did and it's only fair!!!! It's finally starting to melt and we're suppose to expect a whole +6 tomorrow (well, today, saturday) and a balmy and uncomfortable 14 on monday...who said mondays were the worst days of the week???
And we'll just leave it at that, sound good?
