Itchy flakey dry skin and Remicade

Has anyone had any skin problems wth Remicade.  My daughter has craked dry skin around her mouth and chin and chest and it itches like crazy? confused

OMG, I did! However, mine was my EARS. Moisturizer and lotion. I seemed to do better the longer I was on remicade and the itching and flaking went away, but it did seem to take forever before it went completely away.
When I had jaundice from the chemo meds, I developed a rash from an anti-nausea med and my sking was just itching all over from the jaundice. I scratched bruises into my neck, arms, chest, belly, back, buttocks and inner/outer thighs. The only thing that gave me relief was having the husband drag a credit card across my skin and oatmeal baths before bed.

My three favorite lotions are ones I have found at livestock feed-stores.
"Udder Delight" and "Nothing Like It", both by CutHeal of Cedar Hill, TX are fabulous for super-dry and cracked skin. I prefer to use them on my hands, elbows and knees. I don't particuolarly care for it on my face.
"Bova' Cream" by Universal Cooperatives Inc. Eagan, MN. This cream is my most fave for face and body.
All three lotions absorb very nicely. The first two provide a sort of protective coat that you can feel if you get wet, but the third one absorbs complely and you never feel 'greasy' afterwards. You don't feel greasy with the 1st two, but it takes a bit longer to absorb fully.

OMG,  I do have very very itchy skin since starting remicade,  but its all only on my face (forehead region) and my shoulders, upper chest, upper back,  and arms.  Some places show a dry flaky skin,  and some places actually have a few little flesh colored bumps (like hives), but most areas don't show anything visible,  just itchy itchy itchy. The best investment I recently made was a back scratcher!!  aww..heaven!!  I asked my GI about them at my last visit,  he didn't think it was the remicade directly,  except now my immune system is different, so what I could tolerate ok before I might not be able to now..such as shampoo and hair products.  he advised trying hair stuff with no perfumes ,etc.   We'll see what happens,  but to be honest,  to put up with some itchiness is just fine as long as I stay in this remission!!

You might want to consider a Fungal infection?

Due to the massive amount of immune suppression we're under and the fact that these new drugs actually interfere with the immune system on a much lower level, it seems we can get fungal infections in places no one else can.

At least thats what it was for me.
