Question for JANO437

I noticed on a post that you stated you had no pain, but did have nausea.  I too am like that.  I have always wondered if it was UC related.  The nausea started a year or two before other symptoms started to show up.  I find myself more nauseated in the evening.  I hate going out to eat an expensive dinner and find it pretty much wasted.  Makes for a wonderful night out. 

I have had a couple of older family members that are the same way, but were never diagnosed with anything.  Have you found this to be related to UC?

Hello! Sometimes nausea can be caused by food chemistry-- that can involve neurotransmitters like serotonin. For example, during the 1st year that I was in treatment for UC, I often experienced nausea after eating breakfast. My doctor suspected that banana with cereal was causing it & advised me to cut out the banana. Like magic I got rid of the nausea! So, it could be worth your while to keep a food diary, especially of evening meals/snacks if that's when most of your nausea occurs, and discuss it with your internist or gastroenterologist. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC; currently on 3 Colazal daily for maintenance of remission)

I chew gum a lot. 

It seems to be something that happens a lot.  It doesn't seem to be related to certain foods.  I never thought it might be cycle related.  I'll have to check on that.  Thanks for the input.
