Well, since I developed a small fistula and my first colonoscopy was not completed when I went through my first flare a little over two years ago, I had been wondering if I had Crohns. Well I had the small bowel test done yesterday and got good news. I was told my small intestines looks healthy with no issues. The procedure wasn't that bad, the only bad part was that I had to drink three cups of a barium "milkshake." The taste was chalky and not that bad but by the third glass you've definitely had enough, plus it takes about
3 hrs total because the barium has to make it to your small intestines so I was told to sit and walk for things to digest and they take a lot of intermittent xrays!!! I have my second colonoscopy next week with biopsies and all so hopefully that will provide further evidence of whether I have Crohns or UC. I've had a few blips over the past year but all in all I seem to be in a good solid remission. I went out drinking last night and no issues whatsoever, whereas before achieving this kind of remission a drink would cause some problems, even if it was just D and some pain! I did buy the homemade yoghurt maker advertised with the SCD diet and have been eating some of the homemade stuff for the past week. It's kind of tart but not bad and I could always add things to it to spice it up. I was surprised how easy it was to make. Just boil some milk, let it cool, add the mixture, turn on the machine, let it go for 24 hrs, refrigerate and voila, good homemade yoghurt full of probiotics (I hope!).
