Blisters in the Mouth & Throat???

I'm still having issues with blisters in the mouth. They have moved down into my throat as of last Friday. Went to the Med Clinic Sunday, got a Cotisone Shot and a prescription of Amoxicilian.

At this point I'm no better off. the U/C is getting worse and the Asacol I'm taking is not working. And I am wondering if the Asacol is causing the ulcers/blisters or is it a result of the U/C?

Can anyone shed a little light on this.....Has anyone else had ulcers?

Is it the Asacol or the U/C?

Curently in a flare since mid Jan 08. Taking Asacol 3x3 a day.

First, you need to talk to your own doctor. Amoxicillin gives almost everyone D, and can be a disaster with UC. I have no idea why they'd treat you with the combination of steroids and antibiotics, unless they just really don't know what's causing it and used a "shotgun" approach.

One common cause of blisters in the mouth is herpes, which is a chronic infection that often rears its ugly head when you're sick with something else - like a UC flare. Call your GI, as the Asacol may not be working for you. You may need a higher dose, different medication or additional medication. My suspicion is that if you get the UC under control, the blisters will go too.

I'd stop the Amoxicillin and call my GI today.

I have UC but have never had blisters in my mouth but my brother who was an UC sufferer (now had surgery) had very extreme disease and he used to get bothered with ulcers in his mouth. I don't know maybe something to do with UC ?????

Did the doctor take swabs of them?
