OT - Gma is 89 today! :)

For anyone that doesn't know who Gma is - she is my grandmother who moved in with me 4 years ago.  She has battled bladder cancer - survived, has macular degeneration - is legally blind, and had Alzheimers.  But today is her 89th birthday - wow.  I hope I have the same longetivity - with relatively good health that is!  Today I am taking her in to the beauty parlor to get her and my hair done, then we are going shopping and then going out to lunch.  Plus, we have the family coming over later for cake and ice cream.  Just thought I would share her big milestone - heck any birthday after 80 is a milestone!  tongue

Of course! If you want to travel a few hundred (thousand?) miles here to Michigan! lol We are having Sanders bumpy cake and Gma's favorite - carrot cake. With Chocolate marshmallow and vanilla ice cream :)

Well, that certainly brought a big smile to my face! Please tell gma happy birthday for me and give her a big hug. What a milestone for her; and have a wonderful time together getting all "dolled" up and doing all that fun stuff! :-) What is bumpy cake? Sounds yummy! ((((Hugs for gma!)))))

Wishing your Gma a happy birthday!

My Gram will turn 85 on May 8th. Just took her out for her bday for ribs and jalapeno poppers her favorite! She is one of the most special people in my life, I just adore her.

Thanks everyone! I will tell y'all wished her happy bdays. A bumpy cakes is chocolate cake with stripes of marshmallow covered in chocolate frosting. Ohhh sooooo good!

Hey, I looked for a recipe for that Sander's Bumpy Cake...seems like it has quite a following in Michigian! I found one; maybe I'll try to make it; or if I ever get out there I'll try and find one. Kind of like Philly cheesesteaks or Ketchup potato chips.....every region has it's own food thing. In Sacramento, we're known for tomatoes. Ha. Sorry, a bit off topic, but I did find the bumpy cake interesting.

Carol, no one - regardless of how good you are - can possibly duplicate the Sanders bumpy cake! There is only one way for you to get one and that is to come see me! :0) lol

Gma's bday was real nice. Everyone showed up and we all had cake and ice cream. Kids were running around, causing havoc so us adults went outside to the patio. Gma seemed to really enjoy her day. And what the best present was - is that she was 90% mentally there for everyone and she was really able to enjoy the day!

Oh Sherry -- she looks like an angel! Thanks for the pic. Now, I know what carrot cake looks like, how bout' a picture of that Bumpy Cake? You've got my curiosity up! Ha! Just kidding, I'm sure that bumpy cake is all gone by now. Okay though, I'll just stop by Michigian some time and have a slice with you...and maybe a cup of coffee. Yum. And for Gma, give her another hug. Glad to hear she had a wonderful day and was aware of the love that surrounded her.

Gma looks good! A bit more frail than when I saw her last - but still looking good :) So glad to hear all went well and the AZ stayed away for a while. Hooray!
