have you taken imodium with dicyclomine?

Hi...no, I've never taken imodium. I would suggest that if you are going to take it (is it for during the day?)...to not take more than once a day and only for a short while.

Please try the rectal meds.

Are you taking the dicycomine 4 times daily? Since when?

You could up the Culturelle....maybe that would help.

You could also consider to add a fibre supplement like Prodiem or Metamucil (the capsules) to bulk up the stool.

Are you wanting to take the imodium for urgency or for diarrhea?

I took the dicycomine 4 times for the last two days. I don't think it is helping for the diarrhea at all. It makes me feel kindof high and really tired. There is no way I could take it while I am in school. I'm scared to drive on it. And my diarrhea is worse than it ever has been. That might just be my flare getting worse.

I just want to take the imodium on wed. because I have an upper scope to go to. I called the nurse and she said it was okay to take even though I'm not supposed to have food or water after midnight. I took two this morning and I think it helped some. I'm just worried because they will put me completely out.

For some strange reason I don't have imflamation in my rectum so the doctor says that rectal meds won't work.

Do you think it is safe to up the Culturelle? It says once a day on the box. I'm thinking about switching Probiotics. Is Probiotic 3 expensive?

Hi...If you called the nurse and you have the OK to use imodium on Wednesday...then you should if it'll help your diarrhea since you're worried about having to go. 

You took two imodium in the morning?  it should have helped noticably.  How did your day fare after using them?

When was your last c-scope?

Where "exactly" does your inflammation start? Is your inflammation continual from that point upward throughout your colon?

If it's at the upper rectum and into the sigmoid...then rectal meds will help you.

I found this from Culturelle....you can take 2 daily.

I use Protec (made by Natural Factors...I see how you could think it's Probiotic 3..must change that in my signature.   They're $27.99 Cdn for 180 capsules.   They have to be refrigerated....but I don't travel...lol!  The Culturelle has Rhamnosus in it as does the Protec.  That's what sold me on them.    I've used them for years.

Have you been tested for Celiac Disease?

I got up at 5 and went to the bathroom a couple of times then took two imodium. I guess it helped but I still went to the bathroom 6 or 7 times before 4 pm. They knocked me out and did an upper scope but didn't see any immflamation. The doctor said that maybe it is just mild and the prilesec is covering it up. It hurts really bad sometimes. Then the doctor sent me over to another clinic to do a ct scan because I have been having pain in my side/flank area. That wasn't so bad - I am just a wuss about needles and I had to have two IV's today - one in each arm.

I feel like my doctor doesn't listen to me. I told him today that my stools are not solid and I am going 6-10 times a day. He looked at me and said we need to go a round of prednisone because thats the next step even though I just talked to him a week ago and said that I don't want to do that again and I wanted to try colazal if the dicycomine didn't work. He agreed and mentioned remicade. Today he said prenisone. Im sure he has a lot of patients but I want to make sure I am getting good care.

I'm scared the ct scan will not show anything and they will say my pain is from UC but I don't think it is. He said I have a mild case of UC and I feel like he thinks I am exgerating my pain and situation. I'm sure that others are worse off than me but I don't feel well. I am tired of having pain all the time, it makes it hard to sleep and I feel like something is really wrong with me. I can't function as a normal person when I have to run to the bathroom all the time. I feel like I am being a burden on my husband and I just wish I could get better. They did complete blood work and tested my urine and said it was all normal.

anyway thanks for letting me vent. My inflammation starts about halfway up the left side and is patchy from there untill the desending colon starts. Several people here have said that they think it is crohns based on that but I have questioned my doctor about it and he said the biopsys are UC although the doctor who did the biospys said to rule out infectious colitis first. I don't have the markers in my blood for crohns or UC. All of this makes me wonder if it is infectious colitis but the doctor says he ruled it out.

I will ask him about Celiac Disease at my next appointment.

Wow...I would think you DON'T have UC..for sure. Something else is going on. Have you been checked for microscopic colitis?

Remember that celiac is in the small intestine, but people who have it will have symptoms of diarrhea, pain..etc. Are your stools kind of fluffy/frothy?

Did the doc take lots of biopsies?

Are you bleeding?

Prilosec in itself can cause discomfort....as can 5ASA meds.

When do you get the results? Make SURE you get a copy of the results and a copy of your last one and all blood tests.

Have you made any efforts towards a diet change?

Are you consuming any artificial sweeteners?

You've definitely had a pain-full day. Hope the evening will be quiet. You will have discomfort after the scope....maybe bleeding from the biopsies.

I don't know....seems more than just what's visible.

hang tough, however...seems you'll have to fight to not go on prednisone.
