I have an appointment with a surgeon in 3.5 weeks--it was the earliest one I could get! Yesterday was a horrible flare day for me; I was bleeding more than usual. But today has been better--I've only had a tiny bit of blood on the TP. yeah

neondream--I know what you mean! Last semester, I only left my room to go to classes and to get food (which I brought back to my room so I would have a bathroom nearby). I used to do so much stuff in high school (before UC) but I barely do anything now. Let us know what you decide to do next!

For those of you who have succeeded with Remicade and/or surgery, did your energy levels increase? I'm constantly tired and exhausted, even though my blood levels are normal. I feel weak even after walking for a little bit; I can't even concentrate on reading a book or enjoy watching tv. There is a definite problem when I can't enjoy my favorite tv shows! tongue

Yes, when I was on remicade it did increase my energy level for about the first week after infusion.  My body was eating the remicade so I was quickly losing it effects, but had my body not done that I think that Remi might have worked for me. 

And yes, after surgery my energy is definately increased, no longer exhausted - I am rested, calm and content. I'm not the man I was before UC energy wise but I don't hurt, feel fatigue (from lack of sleep), or have the emotinal worry and stress of UC.  All those things combined have increased my physical and emotinal energy.  I laugh more now and I'm funny again too, I go out and enjoy it, I enjoy my family/friends because I'm no longer so focused on me and my UC.   That is the big thing now my life is no longer so self-centered on me and UC, its now about me living life with others again.

what the remicade did to me was the day i took and it and for two days after i was so tired, then i had energy, better than before but not back to pre UC, and that lasted for about four weeks, then the effects would start to wear off.
Now over a year post surgery i am not back to pre-uc energy levels, i was 21 then, lol And i am not now, and i have a three year old, who has energy with a three year old? but with UC i could barely do anything, i could just barely walk from my house to my MOm's Now i try to go to the gym everyday, do two miles on the treadmill do the weights three times, we are going swimming alot, something i was either too tired or too sick to do until now, i have been going out with my friends on friday nights and staying out until 2am, (my child is with my grandma, perfectly safe, lol) without taking naps that day! so yes, my energy level is much better! something you have to do after an ileo though, or soemthing that helps is to take b-12, that helps your energy level too
