Entocort and healing

I have been on Entocort for about 6 weeks.  I cut my leg about a week ago.  It is about an inch long and not very wide at all.  The cut looks inflamed and is surrounded by red.  My leg is really achy from about the knee down (I cut myself on my shin bone).  Do you think I should call my doc or am I getting worried for nothing.  Normally, I wouldn't give two thoughts to this situation, but since i am on Entocort and I typically heal very quickly, I am a little worried.

Most definitely call your doc and get in asap or go to a clinic!!!

Have you been putting any antibiotic topical ointment on it since you cut it?

Leg injuries are more difficult to heal because of the constant pressure from walking, etc. If you have pants or socks rubbing on the area, then it'll be constantly irritated and leave it more open for invaders.

If it's gotten worse, I'd suspect it's an infection....and since you're on a steroid, it could take a lot longer to heal. Better to know for sure rather than it get worse.

Let us know the outcome.

I have been putting antibiotic cream on it practically the entire time. I keep a bandage on it most of the time too b/c it hurts much worse when my pants or the air hits it. I just don't want to run to the doctor for nothing. It already seems like I go to the doc more than anybody else on the planet. I bet I've seen the doctor 20 times this year - I was in a car crash though so that was most of it. It won't hurt to call the nurse though, will it?

Best not ignore anything that you're concerned with..especaily since it's taking this long to heal.

Definitely phone and don't make lightly of it, because the nurse will copy your "enthusiasm or lack there of" and it's not her call.

Entocort is a steroid, which means it makes you much more susceptible to infections and much less able to fight them off. You need to be concerned about MRSA (resistant staph bacteria), which would need to be treated aggressively.

Don't wait to see if it gets better. Call now, and do make sure they know you're very concerned.
