Sore knees

My knees have been hurting me awful lately. When I am walking I am fine, but just let me bend down and I need assistance getting up. Even when i get up first thing in the morning, my legs feel so heavy. I almost fell when i first put weight on them this morning. Anyone else going through this and what do you do for it. Is there anything we can take to ease the soreness?

You could check with your gastro re advisability of taking some glucosamine/chondroitin daily. Mine o.k.ed 1 tablet of glucosamine500/chondroitin400 daily (no added ingredients), which has helped my knees over the past 4 yrs w/o causing any GI system problems. Before I started taking it, I was having a lot of trouble getting up from a seat on the bus after riding for 20+ minutes, rising up from a squat when cleaning house, etc. I started feeling improvement after ca. 4 weeks on g/c. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC; currently on 3 Colazal daily for maintenance of remission)

Jano, I take the local chain pharmacy brand-- Duane Reade (NYC). There is likely something comparable in your area. The formula is glucosamine500/chondroitin400 tablets with beet juice, magnesium stearate, silica, & cellulose as inerts. (What I'd recommend for achy discomfort is BenGay arthritis formula ointment.) Hope you get some relief soon. I find knee problems a real nuisance when doing housework especially-- such as climbing up to take down or hang curtains, etc. Not as limber as I was in my 20s, but moving better with g/c than without it. / Old Hat
