Who's the best doctor at University of Chicago? Dr Hanauer?

Hi, I'm getting ready to call for my second opinion appointment.  I am in no hurry to get in.  Who do you think I should try to get in with?  I was thinking that Dr. Steven Hanauer who wrote that article I read might be a good one.  Please let me know any or all opinions.  Thanks, Bellski

PS. Do you think I have to tell my current GI that I am getting a second opinion?  My family doctor also has all of my records and he could probably give me a referral if needed.  I am not even sure if I need a referral.  I am weird and feel funny like I am cheating on my current GI or don't trust him enough.....lol.   If I like U of C better, that will be my real doc anyhow.

Hanauer is very good and was reccommended by a nurse in my GIs office as a second opinion.

If you are looking in the suburbs i whole heartedly reccommend Northwest Gastrointerology in Arlington Heights. Dr. Scwhartz or Cohen specifically though i have seen several there int he past ten years. They have other ofices as well but are mainly in the burbs.

If I were going for another opinion it would be Hanauer.

My experience is that docs don't care as much about a second opinion but i always reassure them that i don't have a problem with them but i just feel i need a second opinion.

I have decided to go with Dr. Hanauer at the University of Chicago. From what I've read, he's pretty good. If I like him, I will keep him as my main doctor. They are calling me back to schedule a date, might be Oct. or Nov. Meanwhile, I will do what I think I'm suppose to do and keep a journal etc. My insurance doesn't even need a referral I found out, so my current GI won't even know. I'll keep you posted. Bellski
