Almost a full year in remission and this morning at 3AM I started running to the bathroom with D. Probably 20 times in 3 hours! Then 4 more times at work this morning. No blood and no mucous, but I haven't had D like this since my initial flare up.

I was going to wait and call the doctor tomorrow morning if I have more problems tonight. Figured (and hoping) it could just be a bug or something so was planning to wait.

Has anyone had bouts of D that severe that are not flare related?

Should I wait or call today?

Wow, I'm surprised you made it to work. I would call your doctor todat to se what he says. He may give you some good advice. You don't want to be dehydrated. Be careful. I hope it's just a bug and is about done. Call now, keep us posted, Bellski

Well, not to be the downer here but one time I was in a remission for awhile after high school (I had started smoking cigarettes and it put my coiltis right to sleep) and I went on a trip with some friends and ate a mediocre breakfast at Cracker Barrel. I didn't get 10 feet out the door of the restaurant before it felt like my insides exploded. I hadn't had diarrhea in quite some time like this, so when I spent the rest of the day on the toilet I figured I had food poisoning. A c-scope and several tests later proved that it was in fact a flare that I couldn't get out of for over a year :(


That being said, it may very well just be a bug!! I would keep hydrated and call your doctor, maybe for a stool sample to test for infection/parasites and see what they think. Don't get discouraged yet, there's still hope :)

I would call to be safe but that happens to me about once a year, I think it is just something bad I ate or somehow got some kind of germ my body wants to push out. Better safe than sorry!!!

Just this morning I've heard three people say that they have a bug with D, dizziness and a headache. Maybe it's the "bug" going around but always good for us with "sensitive" systems to check with the doc. Let us know how you are doing.

Update...I heard from the nurse today. The doctor said to increase the Asacol to 12 per day. He wants blood work and a stool sample. I see him on Monday.

I had awful D like that when I got C. Diff. But I had been on antibiotics recently.

It's good he's doing bloodwork and stool samples...ask about adding rectal meds ..I would suggest Rowasa if you're in the US.
