On Monday night, I went into the hospital for a flare-up of my proctitis. Since I was diagnosed this past January (and two months before), I've have diarrhea and bleeding pretty consistently with no real relief. But lately it had gotten especially bad (10-12 bouts a day), hence the trip to the hospital. For two days I was on a "full liquid" diet (pudding, sherbet, broth, and other boring stuff), and although I still had diarrhea, there was no blood and none of the horrendous cramping that I was experiencing prior to each bout.
I started eating regular food (healthy stuff) on Wednesday night when I was discharged, and now today (Friday), all the cramping and blood and diarrhea is back. I'm waiting for my new medications to kick in (Rowasa and Cortenema), but until they do, should I go back on the liquid diet at home? Or has anyone found any regular foods that don't aggravate colitis so badly?
Currently, I'm avoiding all alcohol, caffeine, carbonation, high-fat, refined sugar, high-fiber (whole grains, nuts, raw veggies), and I'm trying to eat small, varied portions throughtout the day. Its just not getting the job done. Any thought from some experienced UC-sufferers?
