Going to the Infectious Disease doc today - hopeful he will OK remi - Question for the group

It did so well for me last year...I am praying he clears me, but I have a feeling he won't becasue of the MRSA 3 months ago now.  The surgeon docs (both of them) cleared me and said it was up to this doc and my wonderful primary/GI (who has been on vacation for the last ten days - and I really need him!).  If both of those docs agree we can go forward and hopefully cut this nasty flare off.

I am even agreeable to a short course of high dose pred or an IV of steroid in the hospital.  What are your opinions of that in lieu of remi?

Also, I used 6mp (without much success solo - but well with remi), I am even hopeful for a 50mg rampup (to avoid pancreatitus) - will need it for remi when I do go on it anyway.  Thoughts?

Love to all here - and will update after doc visit (he wouldn't tell me the results of my stool test over the phone/nurse).  I have a feeling it is negative for cdiff, or something nasty or he would have called since monday.

Bob, I can't imagine ever taking steroids again after two shoulder surgeries, and my experience was nowhere near as horrendous as yours has been.

My suspicion is that the ID doc may view Remi, Pred and 6-mp all the same way because they all suppress immunity and make us more susceptible to infections. Good luck, I hope he approves you so you can get back on track!
