UC question with side pain

I have been emailing my gi back and forth and he said he now doubts I have colitis (think he is just trying to calm me down) Of course I PANICK that I have colon cancer. I am having my scope soon. However, those of you with colitis-do you always have to have diarehha and do you always have to have blood?

Finally, my left sided pain almost feels like a dull constant side stitch--like when you excercise right after drinking water. At times this pain has gotten SEVERE. Does your left side pain sound like this? Is it unusual to have had the pain dull for almost 2 months?

 

Befor i found out i had Uc and wasnt on any pills i always had blood and pain... and my pain is like what your discribing!! but i have uc the whole way round my bolwl so i have the pain on both sides!!

I am also having scop next week!! But not to nervous because i have had it befor!1 have you??

Its odd because SOMETIMES I will see a dot of blood on the tp-but thats it. My bowels range from hard small stools, to sometimes D right after I eat, or sometimes just have to go alot. Often I think I need to go and its just gas, always attributed that to GERD though. Also I get nausua about once every two months, usually in the middle of the night-again attribute this to GERD.

So you pain kinda feels like a "side stitch". I woke up this am and had it and when I walked aroung it got a TAD sharper for about 30 seconds then went back to being dull. Also, I now feel it right after I eat and in the am, have to "go" right after I eat now.

He didnt say why he "doubts" its colitis, maybe he thinks I am scared of it since I am an anxious person. Actually, I not nervous to have it at all. I am nervous about cancer! I just am paranoid because I have had this DAILY for two months straight! But then again, I had this very sharp pain there 5 yrs ago-same spot, and had this dull pain last yr for a wk, same spot then kinda on and off from being somewhat sharp over the year (usually before or after a bm)

I have had an endocsopy before when I was having bad chest pains> No erosion, but my dr said I had NERD-non erosive gerd. I did my endo totally wake and will prob do the same with my scope. My gerd is VERY bad-cant be off aciphex more than a month before the shooting heart like pains come back. This will be my first colonscopy

How long can flares last? I have had the pain on my left side non stop for 2 months-does that mean I am flaring (that is IF I even have this). I did have very very loose stools and they were CONSTANT about 2 wks ago for about 10 days....

My joint pain is getting a little btr-at least the past 3 days it has been

I am supposed to but my father is VERY ill so I may need to push it back.

I am a bit nervous as I am going to do it wout sedation!

The only true way to know for sure you have a flare is by colonoscopy with biopsies!!     Flares can be different each time you have one....sometimes with Diarrhea,  sometimes with constipation,  sometimes blood and mucous,  sometimes not...sometimes severe abdominal pain,  sometimes not so much...sometimes with gas and bloating, sometimes not so much...sometimes with rectal pain and burning and pressure, and sometimes not....as my GI says,  "each flare is its own symtoms".
