Nobody knows the answers... :(

No advice? :(

I wish I had a fissure, I wish I had bleeding piles, I wish someone would just tell me this for a fact. Each time they look they don't see the piles bleeding, in fact they can't even find them but they say the smaller piles bleed more. I have had 3 top GI's look at my colon and none can conclude UC, two have confirmed that ISN'T UC and one is sitting on the fence.

Nobody can explain the frequency and urgency + blood. The only answers I have are IBS+Piles - I have no pain, no weight loss or anything like that. Just anxiety and a dodgy stomach.

I just emailed all three of them now but I bet they say "don't worry about it, it's probably piles"...

So, your last c-scope was with LOTS of biopsies?

Have the docs done a series of marker blood tests? To determine inflammatory conditions, autoimmune, cancer?

Is your urine still dark?

How often are you having bms?

Do you have any bms that are just blood and mucus?

Are you having mucus?

I think you should TAPER off the Asacol to see if your symptoms improve or get worse.

I know it's easy to get fixated on the fact that there could be something else going on....it's always possible since some things don't show up until they're more obvious....but your distress about it will truly make things worse.

Did the docs do a small bowel series?

Did they check for microscopic colitis?

Are you taking any other meds or supplements? which ones if you are?

I'm sorry you're having to deal with all of this. I totally understand that seeing blood in your stools can freak you out. It's not "normal" to see blood coming from there, so it's totally a normal reaction to feel frustrated and anxious like you do. But...try to take a deep breath. If 3 top GIs told you that you don't have UC or Crohn's, that is a good thing! I wouldn't worry about cancer if you've had all those tests done recently. The GIs would have seen something (almost certainly) if that was the case. Why not try to be happy that you don't have UC or Crohn's and can get off medication? I agree with your GI that it would be highly unlikely for you to get worsening symptoms after one day of going from 6 to 4 Asacol tablets.

Thanks Sara. He said that going from 6 to 4 tablets is insignificant even over a few weeks for mild inflammation. He also said he did a scope only a month ago and there is "no chance" it can get worse like that so soon. It all makes sense but doesn't explain the blood.

I will admit the IBS, the urgency and regularity is linked to my anxiety but the blood? It just makes no sense. Plus if it wasn't UC then why did the blood stop after taking Flagyl and Asacol last October?

I am trying to use common sense. I am sick of being fobbed off and told not to worry.

my uc started the same exact way. They told me IBS and I said how can it be with blood and urgency and not making it to the bathroom. They did a c-scope again they said I see nothing wrong come back in 10 years and it got worse. FIRST AND FOREMOST DON'T STRESS YOURSELF OUT. Do whatever you have to do to remain calm, seriously. My fear made me more sick. Try to stay away from glute and dairy for a while, just fresh steamed veggies and meat if you can. Your emotions will make you worse. You can try  to head it off. Pray and stay positive. I wish I didn't freak and have the fear I did, I made myself worse.

I find it difficult to accept the blood is from the piles even though I have seen pictures of the piles. The piles are so small and they have never seen them bleed on scope. There are two of them, very small and internal.

Sara - the flagyl working could mean that the colitis was infective or the piles could have just gone away with Asacol as piles are just lumps of inflammation at the end of the day. Heres hoping.

Quincy - I don't need fibre, I always have soft stools.

I had two small BM's this morning (I am in UK) and I didn't have blood on tissue or toilet pan but noticed some small streaks on my stool. The latter BM's didn't show blood at all. So maybe it is clearing up, as surely a flare up wouldn't be so intermittent in the space of 24 hours.

I can accept I have IBS, but I need an explanation for the bleeding every now and again.

It sucks really, although small compared to some of the good folks on here the mental aspect of illness cannot be discounted. May God heal us all.

I just wrote to my GI - and he has booked me in for an appointment on Friday - he still maintains that he isn't worried. Well I bloody am doctor! This is what I wrote and you will see from my comments that anybody would be worried.

1. I have 3 Bowel Movements a day sometimes more, regular diarrhoea - this is new for these past 2 months, normally I have one or two. Even during my initial colitis days I have never had diarrhoea or this many loose stools - where has this sudden bout come from? Could it be an infection? Shall I take anti-biotics?

2. Stool colour ranges from dark brown to light yellow - the dark stools make me think the ulcer has returned.

3. Regular stomach rumbling and bowel spasms with urgency and often violent diarrhoea.

4. Periodic blood on stools, on tissue and in toilet pan. Could the blood be from lowering Asacol dosage? or Could it be a flare? I don't bleed all the time just sometimes.

5. I think I suffer from mal-absorption - is there a cure?

On the face of it, it looks like IBS and Piles but both are new to me. I have never seen my piles bleed on scope and I have never really had diarrhoea although I do have stress induced IBS. When Mr C***** put me on Asacol and Flagyl the bleeding stopped - how do we explain that?

I am really concerned about UC and Chrohns and just want to get to the bottom of these issues. I want firstly the diarrhoea to stop and secondly to return to my normal one bowel movement a day.

Could your increase of D be attributed to your recent antibiotics? With antibiotics you feel great for awhile, but they can cause an eventual yeast overgrowth, thereby contributing to, among other things, D problems.

I know it's hard to calm down when you're worried....I know it is for me. I freak out and come right here, but it's hard to have questions answered until we have enough information. Anxiety makes my symptoms worse. Also Asacol can cause panic attacks and anxiety. I know this first hand. I had two serious panic attacks while on the Asacol. You are taking 800mg total per day? Sometimes too much medication will make things worse. I actually just learned that myself here in the forums recently. I cut down my medication and I'm slowly on the road to recovering my worst flare ever.

That aside I would have to recommend that you keep a food diary. Know exactly what you're putting in your body and how long it takes to leave your body. Notice when your reactions are and try to find out if something is bothering you. Being tested for Celiacs will definitely help.

Reading your signature it says that they did find inflammation in your colon, but haven't called it Colitis yet?

I keep getting a nagging feeling that I have Chrohns Disease but they say that the Barium MRI has ruled that out as has the Colonoscopy Biopsies. Thanks for all your help this is the help list I will take to the GI either on Friday or before if I can get an appointment. Diarrhoea This first started in hospital and continued ever since – could it be the Omemprazole or the C-Dificile? I have diarrhoea every day now do I need antibiotics again? Or did the Metronidazole cause a yeast overgrowth in the colon?   Bowel Movements Even during my colitis days I didn’t go to the toilet this much. Normally I go once a day, now I am going 3 or 4 times.   Stools My stools are all over the place, dark, light, medium – soft, diarrhoea, bloody. There is no set rhythm to them at all.   Stomach rumbling and spasm – do I need dicyclomine? This has been going on since I left hospital and it means I have the violent diarrhoea and super fast transit of food.   Blood The blood is on the stool, on the tissues and sometimes drips into the pan. This happens every few days and there is no set rhythm to them at all. The blood first started again in hospital in June and got worse after the sigmoidoscopy. It has now returned after a 9-month absence.   When Mr Chopada put me on Asacol the bleeding stopped - how do we explain that? Could this be colitis? Chrohns flare up? Could it be the right hand side of the colon flaring up? Could it be because of me reducing the Mesalazine tablets?   Mal Absorption My stool colour, slight weight loss and diarrhoea suggest this. Other concerns IBS and Piles? Microscopic Colitis? Chohns? Right hand side inflammation? Ulcerative Colitis? Cealic Disease? C-Dificile or other infection? Fibre Supplements?   I want to come off the medication, go back to one bowel movement a day and most of all I want to stop bleeding as that freaks me out.   I had this only 2 months ago before the Ulcer – what’s happened since hospital?
