Hi all.

Some of you might remember me.  I found "HealingWell" during my last flare which was in 2005-2006 and found it to be a great help.

I just wanted to let you know that there is hope out there.  Naturally the people who contribute to the forum are the ones that are suffering most but I think we need to have some hope especially for the newly diagnosed members. 

As you can see from my signature I have had UC for 10 years - I have been in remission for about 6-7 of those.  First on Asocal and in this last period of remission I am on Immuran 100mg per day.  One BM per day!  So just hold on in there.  The last time I was flaring the doctor mentioned operating  - it had got that bad.

So don't despair.  Hopefully you will find the right medication too.

Diet: Normal except that I don't eat yeast (No yeast bread or beer).

Hi, There may be more hope because NIH just finished a clinical study using interferon injections that replace something back into your intestine. They are now wrapping up their findings to see if this helps people or not. I hope it helps, for all you you with this nasty disease.

Thanks for posting beta - yes the problems with the forum's is sick people use them - not the healthy ones! I hope everyone who gets well remembers to put a few posts on here.

i dont see that as a problem.. "that sick people use them"..
bad choice of wording...
gives the feeling that we are all a problem and negative for being on here and using this great resource to chat, interact and share.

healthy and unhealthy alike contribute their experience, knowledge and advice that we all are grateful for.
im grateful anyway.

i mean, i cant call my doctor everyday with every question that i have about this disease and a lot of people here help everyone out with their 2 cents.

Nicely put Steph.I look at this forum everyday,sometimes posting,sometimes not(depends if I have something useful to say!).I found the forum during a flare,reached remission,flared again,and am currently in remission again.I don't ever consider myself "sick",I have a condition,and from time to time it becomes a bit of a problem!
