Hi Everyone,
I had my consult for j-pouch surg and pre op done this week at the CC with Dr. Lavery, and I'd like to share my experience. Dr. Lavery was very patient, kind and thorough. I was so afraid when he wanted to scope me right there in the office, but it didn't hurt at all. I felt it, but it didn't hurt. He knew I was petrified. There was still active colitis even though I have been on high steroids. Then, he took a look at my colonoscopy results from a couple weeks prior and found that while a foot of my colon was very diseased, the biopies from the remaining colon showed active patches as well. That and my current state of being stuck in the house confirmed the need for surgery. My Dad had toxic megacolon, and Dr. Fazio did his 13 years ago. Pre-op included blookwork, a visit with an internist and a visit with an ET nurse to mark where my stoma would be. Everybody at the CC was very helpful and nice. I know it will be a long road ahead but in case anybody is headed up there to the CC (and maybe seeing Dr. Lavery) it was a great experience for me...so far! Thank you all for your previous posts.
