Flax seed capsules for treatment of UC

Has anyone taken Flax seed oil with good results for UC?  I have a friend who swears by it, but my GI doctor said, although it won't hurt, it certainly doesn't have curing ablitlities for UC.  I have ulcerative proctitis and suffer with bleeding and urgency to evacuate several times a day.

Are you on any medications? I have tried Flax seed in the past and it didn't agree with me but some people on here do use it. You never know if it's going to help unless you try. Btw, welcome to Healingwell :)

Hi..welcome.

You should be on rectal meds as well....to help with rectal symptoms. Remember that UC starts at the rectum and you're feeling those wonderful symptoms..lol!

Flax oil isn't a treatment...some people cannot take it. Try and see if it agrees.

Hope you're eating....what's your daily diet look like.

Rectal meds are a prioity..however.

I am on prednisone, alternately take Canasa and Cort enemas nightly, Colazal and 6MP...nothing really helping though.  Been in a flare since being hospitalized in May.  Don't really feel bad...just that dreaded bleeding and feeling like my bowels are never quite empty rolleyes
