I am still new to this disease diagnosised 8/25/08, and I am ashamed to say, I am already sick and tired of meds.  I've never had to take meds on a regular basis and this is getting neausiating.  It's time for my canasa suppository - I don't want to take it because I am already tired of sticking something up my bum every evenings.  Of course I will take it because it's suppose to help.  Just am sick of this mess already.  Gosh, it's terrible being an instant gratification gal and not being able to get it.

I absolutely hate the arsenal of pills I take each morning. SO I feel ya.

But I take them, just as you do, for the hopes that I can eventually be back to normal one day. Patience is kicking my butt though, so I understand.

I feel you on the rectal meds. Who wants to stick something in their bottom every night?! And I live in a dorm! I always think about the other kids partying and doing normal things at night, while I"m sitting in my room playing with bum medicine and fighting to stay awake! What a life.

Yes, Gigi, I absolutely DO feel. And the uncertainty is so hard: will this treatment work? will this make things worse? will I ever feel ok in the mornings again? will I ever eat anything other than bananas and chicken? (And my god, I loathe bananas.)

Yeah, I'm not a fan of popping stuff up my butt every night. I remember last semester, people would be out in the dorm's hallways talking and whatnot, and I would be going to bed at midnight after sticking meds up my butt.

I really feel for those of you who are in college and have this. I am so glad I didn't get this until after I graduated. I hate taking my meds every day, too, but you do get used to it. Every once in a while, I'll get really annoyed by it for a day or two, but mostly it's just habit now and I don't think about it too much.

Definitely been there, but I can tell you that after nearly 20 years, it's been worth taking the meds.

You'll have to get over the rebellious stage, for it'll hurt you the most.
Taking a day or two here and there to not take meds is fine, but eventually it'll catch up.

Nothing good about having UC or taking meds....literally a pain in the arse.

Yes, I too feel for those of you that are so young and in college - that has got to be tough. And you guys are right, of course I do take my meds. LOL yesterday I thought did I take all I am suppose to take? I am going grocery shopping today so I plan on getting a "pill" box to help keep me organized. Oh my mega probiotic says I need to keep it in fridge. Do you all keep yours in fridge? Do you think it would be okay if I put them in my Pill box to take w/ me to work and they were out of fridge from like 6:30 a.m. to noon? Hard to remember to get the bottle out of fridge at work to take home w/ me.

I take a total of 22-24 pills a day - 9 Colazal, 1-2 6mp, 1 Pro-Bio, 1 Prilosec, 1 Forvia, 1 Biotin, 3 Neurontin, 1 Skelaxin, 1 Singulair, 1 Zyrtec and 2 Tylonel Simply Sleep. Oh and on occasion, Norvasc. I am a pro when it comes to swallowing more then 1 at a time but lordy do I HATE taking them. I hate having to rely on them to make me feel somewhat normal. I hate putting all these things in my body. But I have no choice - with out these meds, I would be a painful mess crying in the corner. It's a sad sad thing to have to take all these medications for sure. But I look on the bright side - it could always be so much more worse for someone who suffer worse things. And yes, a pill organizer is a godsend for me. Without it, I would just stare at the cupboard like an idiot thinking ummm ok which one???? :)
