Quick question: I have been having what my GI calls a "smoldering flare" of my UC for several months now. I'm not the sickest I've ever been, but I never really seem to recover to a somewhat "good" point like I have in the past. Additionally, now I have some brand new symptoms; namely a feeling of extreme pressure in my left upper abdomen (under the ribcage) which sometimes feels like a muscle spasm and if it lasts for a few minutes, causes vomiting. This usually happens after eating but sometimes it just happens without eating. It started a couple of months ago. My GI said he wants to "cast a wide net" to try to find out what is going on, so the first step was a CT of the abdomen with & without contrast (colonoscopy & upper GI scope next week). Today the nurse called and said my CT was "primarily unremarkable". My question: what exactly would a CT show? What would it miss? The Dr has talked a lot about adhesions since I have had 3 C-sections and 2 gyne surgeries, all with abdominal incisions. Would adhesions show up or not on a CT? For what its worth, I no longer have my gallbladder (out in 1993). This seems to be a point of interest with the Dr. Anyone get a feel for what might be going on here? I have lost 10 lbs. in the past 2 months without trying & really didn't need to lose them since I am naturally pretty thin.
