Beware of Phenergan!!!!!!!!!

I'm posting this because some members have reported they've been given Phenergan (anti-nausea drug) in connection with colonoscopy procedure or to accompany Rx of anti-anxiety meds. Today's New York Times has a horrifying article about a lawsuit concerning a woman who contracted irreversible gangrene in her right arm due to improper injection of Phenergan! The article states that irreversible gangrene is a known side effect of this drug!!!!!!!! / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

No, Quincy, the article says that irreversible gangrene is a known side effect under certain conditions of entry into patient's bloodstream-- so why in blazes is this crap being used at all? It's not merely a case of improper injection technique! / Old Hat

Well, I know the drug is given all the time in ER's & such- I get all the reports on our patients from our local hospital, & people are getting Phenergan for nauseau constantly. It can't be that high a risk, do you know the stats on it? It doesn't say a thing in the Black Box warning about gangrene, it just talks about pediatric infections.This must be a new complication???

Hmm, I have phenergan pills and gangrene is not mentioned as a side effect.

I have had it several times when in the hospital and flying from one hospital to another. They never said anything about those side effects, but luckily I had no problems.
