Ouch. Seriously ouch.

So, basically all in all things have been improving. Not that that would mean anything with a disease that changes gears every 5 days. But things are improving. I have no blood. Stools are more formed - but they are still as soft as pudding. Very little mucous - hell I actually passed gas like 6 times this weekend without having to be on a toilet!! that's progress my friends.

But heres the catch. I started feeling this pressure 2 days ago inside my rectum. And now I know what it is since yesterday - I think it's a fat hemmie growing. All the pain is internal, and I am using HC up there (but I dunno if it's working). THe last time this happened I was in for an extremely intense and painful time - until it popped.

So, is there anything that can be done about these? zThe pain is largely discomforting now, but it had been unbearable last time for several days. I had heard about pancing and surgery - can they do that for the ones on the inside?

If I cram an icecube up my bum will it make the pain go away?!?! Or take the swelling down?

And why the hell does every good turn come with a side effect? This is really rediculous.

I second the doctor visit- same thing happened to me, thoguht it was a hemmorhoid, turned out to be an abscess. Horribly painful, finally burst open, now I have a fistula that will not go away. It sucks. Even if you are absolutely, positively %100 sure it's a hemmorhoid- go see the doctor anyway. At least they'll be able to treat it properly, if it is that, & give you something better than Prep. H. And if it's an abscess, they can drain that too & save you a lot of pain & potential problems down the road.

Another perk of seeing the doc about your hemmy is that if you suffer from them chronically, there is a procedure that can reduce the pain caused by hemmies. During this recent flare, I thought my hemmies were acting up as well, but after a c-scope, my doc said it was just inflamed rectum, even though I swore up and down it had to be a hemmy. I even bought one of those donut cushions to relieve the pressure.

I notice in your signature that you take take Immodium "when you have to leave the house". Are you a hermit like me? I used to get out of the house quite often, but now, unless it involves work, appts, or food, I really don't leave the house much. For me, it is a matter of no energy combined with the constant use of the loo. Does the Immodium help you a bunch? Do you have any rebound effects, like painful bms?

I called, and the nurse said give it a few days - my doc is out until thursday anyway.

As far as the immodium, I think it does help - but yes I never leave the house but for work normally. I don't get any residual effects that I can attribute to it.

As far as the pain, ya it hurts alot, but I am dealing with it. Coughing is alot of pain, and I conveyed that to the nurse. It is similar to what I felt a few months ago, before it reached a breaking point.

I have a family practitioner appointment tomorrow and I am going to ask him to have a look.

Well, the pain has gotten worse, and it is exactly manifesting like it did a few months ago. most of the pain (and a small bit of itching that is beaten by the pain) is just internal and to the left, but now the new development is a verifying fat red hemmie also just outside to the back. And that, my friends, led me to the most pain I have ever experienced in my life.

I am hoping to make it to the FP this afternoon - but if it gets too bad I will just head to the ER. I will try nad hold out. I will not go through the same pain that I went through last time, just waiting on itself to pop or release itself. No no. When I get to the doc I am not leaving until he lances it or does something.

I think I am going to talk to my GI about what options are available for the procedure you mentioned beartooth.
