Hello, I hope this is the correct place to post this. I take Sulfasalazine as maintenance medication. Some years ago I had ulcerative proctitis. I haven't had a flare for several years.I am wondering if it is safe for me to take a vitamin B12 supplement. Thank you. Regards, Richard.

I take Vitamin b-12 complex every morning....does that aggrevate proctitis??????

I've never heard that Vit. B-12 can aggravate UC.

Many CDers are prone to having to take B12 supplementation due to the fact that we cannot always absorb it via food alone...I've had to take it for the last 7 yrs and will likely have to continue with it for the rest of my life as long as I have CD.

I've never heard of B12 being an issue for UCers.

I get B-12 shots, as part of the therapy to overcome anemia. Tests showed I needed it. Didn't stop me from getting to and staying in remission. Maybe the shots would avoid any gastro effects (but $30 per).
