YOU ARE NOW BEING GIVEN SOME ADVICE THAT COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE IF YOU SUFFER WITH ULCERATIVE COLITIS
After suffering with painful & embarrassing bouts of my UC going in & out of remission, I finally don't suffer anymore. I have a protocol I want to share with others, hoping it will help others who are suffering.
First, I take the best probiotics by Natren (3 different ones they make, about $40/mo.). I taken the Bifido and MegaDophilus first thing in the morning with a glass of purified water and a Healthy Trinity capsule after my meal. I also take digestive enzymes. I think Garden of Life Omega-Zyme or PhytoPharmica's Bio-Zyme are the very best.
Second, I avoid carbs, except for fruit & vegetables. This means no potatoes, no rice, no cereal, no muffins or baked goods, no crackers, no bread, no pasta. The only execption I do is 1 packet of Regular Instant Oatmeal with 1 packet of Low Sugar flavored Instant Oatmeal for breakfast. (I actually do have carbs once in a while now, now that my colitis has been in remission for so long, but very infrequently. If I cheated regularly, I'd be in big trouble!) I load up on red meat, fish, chicken and eggs, raw nuts like almonds & walnuts, veggies (esp. Greek salad with lemon & olive oil), I avoid sugar and sodas (I use Perrier or Pelegrino), and I STAY REGULAR (if you know what I mean!) with this protocol! I used to drink coffee with heavy whipping cream every day to help me...go! Now I have switched to tea because the acid in the coffee caused my fibromyalgia and leg pain to be much worse! A daily BM is VITAL!!
Alcohol in moderation (in case you're wondering!)
When I get the sensation in my stomach that my colitis is coming out of remission, I stop even an occasional transgression. Usually a flare-up is the result of having a couple of slices of pizza, Mexican food, or restaurant food. I immediately double my probiotics, drink tons of water, and begin a course of Dipentum, 750 mg. after each meal. I go back to my proper food combining (fruits alone, protein with veggies only, no carbs, etc.) The UC is usually under control in 24-48 hours again.
I hope this helps you and works for you!
