Hi I am a 67 yr old male recently diagnosed with inflammation of the lower colon for which I was on flagyl and pred.
I am now on salofalk enemas to control my condition.
I have quite severe arthritis of both knees and as my Dr took me off my beloved Mobicox which really helped with pain etc just wondered what other folks are using to control pain under these conditions.
Tylenol just does not work for me.

Wish I had some good advice for you.  I have same problems - but luckily Tylenol helps me.  There has to be something else to help you.  I am working on getting the UC under control to have knee replacement.  Should be ok to have first one in December - I hope.  I use Tylenol, different rubs (like Bengay or ?) resting, ice if swollen, etc.  Best thing is staying off my feet.  I also use a cane or walker.

Hi..welcome to the forum!

Would you be able to consider any of the glucosamine/condroitin/msm combos? or have you tried them in the past?

You know I took those for years to help and I think they did until damage got so bad.  Then I  tried them again - this time with MSM and got sick so assumed the MSM did not agree with me.  I would recommend trying the joint  supplements to anyone with fairly minor damage to knee joints!  ElaineNY

I've had 3 sets of injections of Hyalgen into my damaged knee, and it's enabled me to get by without replacement surgery for over three years. I had surgery after an auto accident years ago, and I have no cartilage, a partial ACL tear and really bad bursitis. You might see an orthopedist about something like this to provide relief.

thanks everyone for making me feel so welcome, in reading many of the posts it sure makes one feel that one is not alone and many more feel the anguish of these health problems.

Talk to your doctor. Tell him you are in pain, and don't leave until he gives you a prescription for pain medicine. Either Tylenol with Codeine #3, or Vicodin. If you hurt, you hurt. No need to be embarrassed. It is the doctors job to make you feel better. Pain only hinders the healing process.
