There's this awesome case study from 1907-1976 abour Herpes Zoster having herpes in the colon as they refer to "ulcers", I going to talk to my doctor tomorrow about a virus, not bacteria which I thought I had. I've been repeatedly test for bacteria overgrowth by stool, blood and breath and no such luck. Before all my UC started I did have herpes on my left butt check and was prone to cold sores or fever blisters. The rash would stay for a month ago and always apprear during very stressful times. On my very early posts I asked about blisters on my lips, they look like the same ones in my colon pictures, white. Ulcers in my colon weren't red. I had them before I was taking asacol, but thought maybe somehow the asacol caused them, but how could it I wasn't on the medication at the time? Since my 20's when under a lot of stress this round patch of blisters would show up on my left butt cheek, hot to the touch and would ooze clear liquid. It looks just like herpes zosters pictures. I never went to the doctor b/c I felt my body would correct it and slowly after several few weeks it disappear to a mere pink scare. Maybe this was a flare as we know it in UC. Now I'm not crazy b/c my girlfriend admited she had this too and was later dignoised with HPV Virus. I'm writing this now b/c if my doctor feels I could have a virus instead of bacteria and i get help for it, I want to be able to help someone else. The herpes usually follows a nerve line, i.e. left butt cheek, left side of colon which I have. In one of the case study the ulcer showed up in the cecum, which I too have. All case studies, these folks were in good health and then something happened. The virus lays asleep while you sleep and awakes when you wake, which you never seen me post, as I can tell, my uc doesn't effect me during the night. Could it just be coinensidence? Could be, but I'm my own advocate and have been for 3 long years, I'm not giving up. The case study is in the American Journal of Medicine. I have seen elsewhere about herpes in the colon on the internet. They look like ulcers. A biopsy wasn't done for herpes just for chrons. Has anyone thought of this on the forum? One person responded to taking Valtrex and it didn't help, maybe they didn't have a virus. Call me wishful, hopeful thinker, but i maybe onto something here for me. Oh, the virus would put your bodies immune system into overdrive, like mine is, b/c it's fighting something off all the time. Please only write back postive information, realism I can't handle at the moment while I'm being hopeful. Thank you. I will post after my appt 3pm EST. I'm trying to think of everything I can tell you and what I read. what if the ulcer is a herpe that everytime food passes over it, it takes off the scab? Wish me luck. One post i read a ladies husband had uc for 6 years and one day it just went away, could he have a virus that went dormate?
