How the heck does one do this diet without calcium supplements if one is on prednisone? Ideally we need to be taking a fair amount of supplemental calcium while on prednisone. Now, since I have difficulty tolerating much in the way of supplements in general- i.e if I don't take about every other day off or more I get a non-ulcer dyspepsia type pain- I may go ahead and skip calcium for awhile, but still, ideally I need supplemental calcium to compensate for calcium depletion while taking prednisone.
Are you referring to when I mentioned that High calcium interferes with the magnesium? You can still have calcium, I drink milk every morning and sometimes at night and have cheese in moderation fairly often. its just that I have noticed that the more calcium I intake the more high magnesium foods I need to consume to make the diet work. Such as if I were to eat pizza or a lot of cheese every day for a few days I would need to ingest more high magnesium foods to keep UC symptoms from starting. So if you are having to take a lot of calcium I suggest eating pumpkin seeds along with sunflower seeds and spinach because of pumpkin seeds being loaded with magnesium.
