Steroid and mesalamine enemas...

At first I was on the steroid... colocort enemas nightly... and they didn't bug me at all... easy as pie.

Now I'm alternating between colocort and mesalamine enemas every night and it always seems... right after I put them in... I get really bad cramping pain for about a minute or two so bad that I either squeeze a pillow or my hubby's hand. Then it goes away and I go to sleep, but am I the only one that this happens to????


Why might it be doing that to me? It's just this really weird temporary pain after I put them in.

I have it during flaring or if I do have gas in my colon before inserting the enema.....it's normal to have feeling. Consider that the response to go is when there's something in the sigmoid on its way to the rectum...only it's going the other way..up from the rectum to the sigmoid....still will trigger the sensation to go.

White-knuckle through it.....

Sometimes, I'll get a wave of some nausea and a slight urge about an hour after inserting it...no, I rarely fall asleep after using the enemas.
