The discussion earlier was about
Imodium which I have taken for years before UC when I had spastic colon, etc.
Actually scheduled and planned this vacation before diagnosed with UC and I was determined to go. My husband had a reunion with his Vietnam buddies.
I thought I should be in remission by now but with medication side effects and having to try so many - not completely there.
So I packed the Imodium, Pepto Bismal for occasional nausea. I went prepared with extra clean clothes, pads, etc. for just in case. Our seats on all four flights right by the bathrooms. I ate very light all week - hard at those restaurants with my family but I knew it was important to keep my stomach calm as well as my colon.
I took Imodium - 1/2 about every 4 to 6 hours from the time I got up every morning. I had regular BM's all days except Sunday when I had 4 or 5 and stayed close to the resort. I am on Proctofoam only as doc said my last of the UC bleeding/inflammation in low rectal. I used the Proctofoam every other night (he put me on every night) because of our schedule, etc. I had NO BLOOD the whole time I was there and I was having it every day streaked in my stool. Little cramping and gas during the week but nothing serious.
I am home now and starting Proctofoam again as soon as I get back to where I was without Imodium - today was good. Waiting one more day - want to see how it goes. I know I need mainteance at least and will call the doctor about this in a few days when I know what is going on for sure.
We had a wonderful time - my family (husband and two sons) understood and I told them just to go do whatever without me if necessary - I did not mind. I got to do a lot including gambling some (no winner - darn). I always knew where the bathrooms were, etc.
Probably won't get on vacation for while as planning on knee replacement in Spring.
Good luck to everyone!!
