Back on Pred. Anyone unable to take Imuran or Remicade, and why?

Back on 40mg pred today after meeting w/ GI. Because of a recent pituitary tumor my GI is hesitant to put me on Remicade or Immuran. He is looking into it further, because this sine wave of flare, feeling good, flare, feeling good, etc cant be treated w/ prednisone every time....too harsh on the body i guess....he would like to see alternative treatment such as Remicade or Immuran however so far it has not been recommended I take them because of the tumor.

Anyone else unable to take Remmicade or Immuran for any particular reason?

the Imuran does not work for me and I am on cellcept and can't be on that and remicade. The cellcept is an immune supressor and so not sure if it would be an option for you.

I hate pred! Have been on it for almost a year and a half, I feel your pain!

Remicade doesn't work for me... I am now on pred back up to 30 mg and on 6MP 50 mg. Has he discussed 6MP?

     I cannot take Remicade because I tested positive on the skin test for TB.  I worked in a lab years ago and must have been in contact with patients with TB.  I had a chest xray and all is well and I am not a carrier, but the disease lies dormant in my system and the Remicade can activate it.  Prednisone works for me but this past year I was on it way too long for a stubborn flare and with my osteoporsis...well, it really did a number on me.  My back hurts if I stand for long periods of time and now my hips are starting to bother me and they never did before.

I can't take Remicade because my third dose almost put me into anaphalactic shock and my UC was going backwards instead of forward.
