Endometrial Hyperplasia of the uterus please help

Hi Ladies, I was told today I have this and it's mandatory to get on birth control for 6 months and redo a biopsy and if it's ok in 6 months I can get off. How many of you with UC take birth control pills? They are recommending YAZ on top of it, if left untreated later it could be cancerous, so it's best I take the pills. I have a hormonal imbalance causing the uterus to have unusual or excessive cell growth on the uterus. Have any of you ladies had this and it's been correct by birth control pills? I'm scared to hear about this.

Hi Linda..you can consider a total hysterectomy....of course, that's an extremely subjective issue...but I didn't hesititate to have one. I think, somehow, that the constant ups and downs of the hormones helped my UC.

I'd be scared, but you have to look at the big picture and decide how much anxiety you're willing to endure until you may have to have a hysterectomy. I don't believe in nibbling away at the cake, so to say. If it's an issue that can become bigger/..get rid of it.

I'm probably one of few regarding the decision, but I haven't regretted ONE day since the hysterectomy...

Something to consider. You must weigh your options...but regarding hyperplasia, I'd not waste time on birth control pills etc.

I am very sorry to hear that you have this especially on top of the UC. I have taken BC pills forever and actually now I am on the 3 month pills (Seasonique). Only one period every 3 months. THe pills shouldn't affect your UC or your medication unless you take antibiotics- then check with doctor. I wish you the best- My advice to you is to get as much info on hyperplasia and see if this is the usual course of treatment.

Rey has posted that her daughter with UC takes Yaz for ca. 3 yrs-- maybe you can ask her about it. Sorry you got this diagnosis, but hopefully the med can fix it: try to stay positive, eh? Best wishes! / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])
