The Rogaine has helped me. I lost a little more the first week or so but not very much more. The rogaine does make my hair greasy as well. I use it at night before bed and wash it out the next morning. Probably not the best way to do it. When I was first starting out I would leave it in all day but put my hair up. If you try really hard to just get it on your scalp it won't effect your hair. It is near impossible to do. But I would part my hair and have my hubby put the rogaine on and that helped.
It also gave me bad dandruff so I used/use an anti-dandruff shampoo. Watch which kind you pick b/c some can cause hair loss. Talk about
a vicious cycle. I use a generic coal tar type. My derm said it didn't matter if I used ladies twice/day or men's once per day. I chose the mens b/c I could save money and time that way.
I know my hair loss started when I tapered my entocort and never really went away. I think stopping the pred could be your culprit. Are you on pentasa or asacol or lialda? Those cause hair loss very rarely. (The literature says rarely but a lot of people on here experience it.)
I totally understand how depressing it is. I wish you luck!
PS: I also used biotin and folic acid and it helped. My hairstylest recommends the other stuff your doc mentioned but I haven't tried it.
