almost there?

Hi all i think that i am so close to remission i have 3-5 bms daily ranging from formed to mush no blood or mucus or urgancey but am still getting lower stomach ache most of the time just below tummy button not ever so bad but there i have been using mesalazine supps 1g since june nightly do you think i might need something that goes a bit higher  to get things completly under control also how long can you use the supps nightly for? any advice welcome.

LOL....I would (of course) suggest you try the 5-ASA retention enema (Rowaa if you're in the US..Salofalk or Pentasa if you're not).

I'm also wondering if the reason you're having more bms daily is because of the domperidone...maybe an antispasmodic would be better..to possibly slow down the process a tad.

As well, add a fibre supplement to bulk up the stool a bit. That might or might not help, but it will aid in the "exercising" of your colon rather than rushing out stuff from the stomach.

Just a suggestion.

I would request the 5-ASA mesalamine retention enemas in Canada, of course..but in the UK, you'll have Asacol foam available. so, hop on that firstly. One measured dosage is 1000mg...and the foam is easy to retain..I wish they'd have them here. They could be used once or twice daily, and for higher inflammation, two measured dosages can be used to go higher..so, that would be perfect for you.

Definitely the codeine med can encourage a slower colon...
Why are you taking them...for body/back pain?

I think you should still ask the doc for an antispasmodic...I use dicyclomine...awesome.

Are you still on the 5-ASA supps? If you have them...do consider to start them until at least you're able to see your doc.

A fibre supplement will help bulk your stool, help diarrhea, etc.

You could also ask for an antispasmodic to help with stomach pain...a bit easier on the system than codeine...I cannot take it at all, causes me more pain than what I would take it for.

Regarding back pain....have you tried anything with methacarbamol in it? In Canada/US it's called Robaxin...which is the pure form. It's a tad expensive, but it's more of a muscle relaxant than a pain relief med. but ultimately can relieve pain.
