Yes Sallaki does help in controlling the flare ups. I have tried it myself several times. Infact one of my pharmacist friends from Germany had recommended it to me. Even though they use Sallaki for arthritis, but they had carried a clinical research in Jammu, India in the year 2000 ( I have the report with me). The study carried out between patients taking Sazo and those taking Sallaki 400 mg TDS showed that 80 percent of the patients taking Sallaki had fewer flareups as compared to those taking Sazo. The side effects were almost negligible as compared to depression, mood swings etc in Sazo. Even though personally I used to get pimples with Sallaki. But it is very helpful in controlling the bleeding and UC. My advice is do give it a try. Infacts my German Pharmacist used to import it and recommend it to his patients over there. You may also try fresh home grown turmeric. It is very helpful in healiing the flared up colon.
Since now you have the first hand information from a person who has used Sallaki you may consider this option. I could send you the research paper on this by email, if you so desire.
Best of luck. PS
