Dear All,

What ointments/treatment can one use for fissures/tears that are raw and very itchy near the anal region?

Calmoseptine. You can find where ostomy supplies are purchased or you can order it online at www.calmoseptineointment.com If that doesn't help you can get an Rx of nitroglycerin cream from your surgeon or GI.

Desitin ointment or cream, available in most chain drug stores otc. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

You could also gently rub extra virgin olive oil on the area, that will sooth and heal them.

Hello everybody.
I had the J pouch surgery in 2005 and had been suffering from Butt burns/anal irritation. I have used lots of creams in moderation. By far the best of them has been METROGYL GEL Metrogyl Gel - Metronidazol . it is one of the most economical ones. Use it befor and after the big job. Keep the rectal area dry and clean. Apply this gel on regular basis and you will get relief. Anotehr option could be to use one of the cold creams. I got respite from Charmis cream. So save your bum. no more pains in the arse.
