Counting bathroom trips?

Hi Everyone,

If you would have asked me a few years ago if I would ever pose the following questions to anyone, I would have been horrified, but times change and here goes.......

How do you tally up your trips to the bathroom?  Do you only count the trips where there is a significant passage of waste or do you count the times when you only pass a tiny bit of diarrhea?

What about the times you pass mostly or only bloody/non bloody mucus.  Do you count them as trips?  Would you ever count the times you hurried to the bathroom and just passed very painful gas that felt like a bm?

Yes, for me I'd count all of the above.

Speaking for myself,if I have to sit on the toilet,it counts as a trip.During my second flare,I had LOTS of painful "wet" gas.I had to sit on the loo to expel this gas,it definitely couldn't be done in my clothes,or in public.Very often it was worse than the "proper" diarrhoea(and there was plenty of that too) and most certainly counted.Basically,if you have to sit on the loo,it's a bathroom trip,what else could it be?!??!?!?!

ditto..... You wouldn't be sitting on the toilet normally if you didn't have the urge/urgency to use it..no matter what comes out.

In my Poop journal ( LOL ) I count them all. LOL. I list a small, medium, large. I list Soft, formed, normal, D. I list Gassy. I list urgency or not. ANd if you would have ever asked me a year ago if I would be keeping a POOP journal. I would have laughed my A off. But I now keep a Poop journal and I keep a food journal. As much writing as I do, I should be an author. Hey wait.. I kinda am as I am trying to write a cook book. LOL. Journal writing must have taught me something. LOL

I often run to the toilet and nothing comes out but it's still a bathroom trip! Yup, I count them all.

I count the poop trips and the mucus only trips too, the way I figure it, before I got sick I only had one pooh trip a day (like clockwork) and never in my life did I have mucus trips or even notice mucus mixed with poops, so I count both, anything that comes out of my butt counts as a trip to the can...thankfully my mucus has been almost non-existant (although during period time anything goes apparently) but regardless, I count any time anything evacuates from the bum.  Technically I don't count it when it's just gas, although it should count because with this DD you can't even trust a dam fart.

ya'll are crackin' me up! i keep a written log of everything that goes in or out of chris and what time and any other pertinent info.

I count them all except for if one trip is needed within a few minutes of the last trip, I don't count that one. I figure if I would've just sat on the toilet for a few extra minutes it would still all be the same trip. It's like the 3 second rule (in a way..lol).

I count them all, then if you have the food diary as well you may be lucky enough to link up foods that aggrevate or cause a bathroom pattern. Unfortunately for me I have found no pattern yet, but I am always looking..

jeez, I only count actual stool in the bowl- if I counted all my sit-downs, with nothing but mucous, I'd be in the 20's every day! well almost. I do take note if it's formed or D, but I don't write that down. I just tally my daily bm's, it's always around 5. Then, I sort of mentally track my "mucous trips"- that's usually around 3-4 times a day. unbelievable....

Thanks everybody!!!!! I never counted them all before - only the major ones. I thought it would be exaggeration otherwise. I'm so glad I asked.
