Ileoanal Anastomosis

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and I wanted to know if there's anyone out there that has had the ileoanal anastomosis operation done? If you have please reply to my post I have some questions that I can't seem to find the answer to. Thanks.

Thanks for replying to my post. I had the surgery back in November 2002. At the age of 3 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, the only medicine that would control it was Prednisone. After too many years taking only that med my body got immune to it, so I only got worse. At the age of 22 when they did the Colonoscopy they realized that I was doing very bad and prone to get Cancer at any moment so I opted to get the surgery done. My surgery was done all in one step. It's been 6 years and a half and everything has been pretty good with the exception that my stool is water. I don't get the urgency of diarrhea but it's water. I just wanted to know if this happens to everyone or just me? I went back to the doctor and he had me take Imodium and it works but as soon as the effect is over I'm back to the way I was before. I would greatly appreciate any type of feed back.

It has been like this for quite some time now. I would say 2-3 years and I don't feel any pain.
